A Novel Short Length Half-width Microstrip Leaky Wave Antenna with Suppressed Back Lobes
نویسندگان
چکیده
A novel short half-width microstrip leaky wave antenna (MLWA) with suppressed back lobes is introduced. The design contains an oblique shape termination and a linked square metal with a grounded via hole. The oblique shape termination changes the direction of the reflected wave, and a linked square metal with a grounded via hole guides the remainder power of the reflected wave to the ground plane. As a result, the large back lobe of the short half-width MLWA could be suppressed. The measured results show that the proposed design (length of only 1 k0) improves the back lobes by 9 dB at 4.7 GHz compared with the original half-width MLWA. VC 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Driving Point Impedance for a Linear Array of Half-width Leaky-wave Antenna (preprint)
Printed leaky-wave antennas offer the potential for a low-profile, wide-bandwidth antenna element that can be arrayed if desired. Microstrip leaky-wave antennas rely on the suppression of the familiar 0 EH mode and the propagation of the radiating 1 EH mode. It is well-known that above a critical frequency, this leaky-wave will propagate with little attenuation and that the phase difference bet...
متن کاملDesign Investigation of Microstrip Patch and Half-Mode Substrate Integrated Waveguide Cavity Hybrid Antenna Arrays
In this paper two linear arrays including a linear 1×4 and a planar 2×2 of microstrip patch and half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity hybrid antenna are introduced and investigated. These are simply implemented using low cost single layer printed circuit board (PCB) process. The array element consists of a rectangular microstrip patch with appropriate dimensions in the vicinity ...
متن کاملEnhancement of Bandwidth in Microstrip Patch Antenna using EBG
This paper presents the bandwidth and gain enhancement of microstrip patch antenna using EBG for X band (10 Ghz) application. The surface waves must be suppressed to increase the bandwidth and gain by using EBG. By using EBG the stop band characteristics is created over certain frequency and that has been adapted to suppress the surface wave and to enhance the gain and bandwidth of the antenna ...
متن کاملA K-Band Aperture-Coupled Microstrip Leaky-Wave Antenna
Microstrip leaky-wave antenna fed by an aperture-coupled microstrip operating at K-band is presented. Using the aperture-coupled microstrip as a feeding structure can fully exploit the wideband characteristic of the microstrip leakywave antenna. The dimensions of the antenna are obtained from the calculation of the propagation characteristics. Measurement shows a bandwidth of 22% for VSWR < 2 :...
متن کاملSuperconducting Microstrip-Fed Antenna Coupled to a Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detector
A proper antenna to couple to a microstrip Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detector (MKID) is designed and simulated. A twin-slot microstrip-fed inline antenna is designed for frequency band of 600-720~GHz integrated with an elliptical lens and coupled to the MKID. A systematic design procedure for design of such antenna with microstrip inline feeding is presented. Whole structure of lens and twin...
